About the Painting Process

The appearance of each sonogram painting is different just as seen in the variances of every baby’s personality and physical traits. Image editing software allows me to clarify, alter and bring out various aspects of the form. Through this process, the design reveals itself to me and becomes completely one-of-a-kind. With the design now formed, it is gridded and transferred to the enlarged canvas. A basic sketch is drawn, colors are mixed and the painting commences. Methods of applying the paint are determined by the four distinct styles. Hard edge lines and color blocking create beautiful simplicity while a more free use of layering, blending, and texturing builds intricate complexity. I truly enjoy the creation of each piece.

As a fine artist, I take pride in all parts of the creative process: the inspiration, the methods, the application, and evaluation. From conception to completion, each painting reflects who I am as an artist and I am thankful to be able to create meaningful work for others.
